A Success Story of Development
Since the introduction of decentralized planning, Alakode Grama Panchayat has been able to accelerate its development activities. While focusing on basic infrastructure development, we have created new milestones across various sectors.
As we formulate the 2026–27 Annual Plan, which is the fifth year of the Fourteenth Five-Year Plan, the Panchayat has made significant progress over the past four years towards achieving self-sufficiency in the agriculture and animal husbandry sectors. In agriculture, we have implemented projects for the cultivation of vegetables and ginger, distribution of fruit saplings, and promotion of bio-fertilizers. In the animal husbandry sector, projects such as calf-rearing, distribution of cattle feed to dairy farmers, and distribution of poultry have contributed to ensuring the availability of milk, eggs, and meat.
In the housing sector, we have been able to ensure social security by allocating 20% of the Annual Plan expenditure every year. Under the Waste-Free New Kerala initiative, facilities such as MCFs, Mini MCFs, public bins in public places, bottle booths, IEC boards, and Take-a-Break centres have been established. The dedicated efforts of the Haritha Karma Sena have significantly contributed towards making the Grama Panchayat largely free from waste.
In the production sector, the governing body has given priority to comprehensive agricultural development projects to strengthen the agricultural sector. Special emphasis has also been placed on the welfare and self-reliance of women and the advancement of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities. To maintain ecological balance, emphasis has been given to soil and water conservation activities. The governing body has also taken initiatives to improve the quality of the health and education sectors, create employment opportunities, and address the increasing shortage of drinking water through projects such as well recharge.
In alignment with the Government of Kerala's programmes such as Haritha Keralam, LIFE, Ardram, Public Education Protection Mission, Subhiksha Kerala, and Waste-Free New Kerala, the governing body gives priority to environmentally friendly and comprehensive development activities in the agricultural, health, and housing sectors of the Panchayat.
Projects have been formulated focusing on the welfare of farmers as well as the welfare of vulnerable sections of society. We look forward to the wholehearted support and cooperation of all the people.
